What makes a dry van job description work
Dry van is the most competitive segment in trucking recruitment. Hundreds of carriers post nearly identical jobs. The ones that get applications lead with pay and home time in the first line β that is what drivers read first.
Most dry van postings bury the pay rate or write "competitive." Drivers skip those. Put your CPM or hourly rate in the opening. Drivers who are not interested will self-select out β the ones who are will keep reading.
- Drop-and-hook vs. live load β state it explicitly. This matters more than most employers realize.
- Equipment year β "late-model" is better than nothing. "2022β2024 Kenworths, assigned" is significantly better.
- Exact home time β "home weekly" means different things. Say "home every Friday" if you can.
- No-touch status β a major selling point. If it applies, lead with it.
- MVR standards β vague language like "clean record" turns away drivers with one old ticket who would otherwise be excellent hires.
