OTR posting: what separates applications from ignored listings

OTR is the most searched route type β€” and the most competitive for carriers to recruit. Drivers searching OTR know exactly what they want and exactly what red flags look like. The biggest mistake in OTR postings is vague home time. "Home time based on freight" is the single fastest way to lose an experienced OTR driver.

  • Be specific about home time β€” "Home every 2–3 weeks for a 34-hour restart" is clear. "Flexible home time" is not.
  • State the weekly mile average β€” OTR drivers think in miles and CPM. Give them both numbers.
  • Assigned equipment matters β€” shared trucks are a dealbreaker for many experienced OTR drivers. If it's assigned, say it clearly.
  • Solo vs team β€” don't post a solo job and then pressure drivers to run team. They will leave fast and tell others.
