Intermodal posting: the TWIC question drivers always ask
Intermodal is split into two distinct driver markets β port drayage (TWIC required) and inland rail (no TWIC needed). Conflating the two in a single posting confuses experienced intermodal drivers immediately. Be specific about which operation you are running.
- TWIC card policy upfront β if required, say so and state whether you sponsor it. TWIC sponsorship is a significant recruiting advantage in port markets.
- Port vs inland distinction β port drayage drivers and inland intermodal drivers have different experience sets. Specify which one you need.
- Day cab vs sleeper β port drayage is almost always day cab, home daily. Inland runs vary. State it clearly.
- Chassis handling knowledge β ISO container chassis inspection is a specific skill. If you require it, say it. If you train it, say that too.
