Oil field posting: what energy sector drivers look for

Oil field CDL work is among the highest-paying and most demanding in the industry. Drivers who seek it out know the conditions β€” remote sites, irregular hours, rotation schedules, and physical demands. They are not looking for a comfortable posting β€” they are looking for honest pay, clear rotation schedules, and per diem transparency.

  • State the rotation schedule explicitly β€” 7 on/7 off, 14 on/7 off, or project-based. Oil field drivers plan their lives around rotations. Vague scheduling is a red flag.
  • Per diem and site pay transparency β€” what is the per diem rate? Is housing provided or is it cash per diem? State it clearly. This is often as important as the base rate.
  • Endorsement sponsorship β€” HazMat and Tanker endorsements required for most oil field work. Sponsorship opens your applicant pool significantly.
  • Safety culture matters β€” oil field drivers have seen bad safety cultures and avoid them. Mention your safety program and incident-free bonuses if you have them.
